Probabilistic Perspective on Compensatory, Pursuit and Preview Manual Control

چکیده

Mathematical human control models are widely used in tuning manual systems and understanding performance. Human behavior is commonly described using linear time-invariant models, averaging-out all non-linear time-varying effects, which gathered into the remnant. These limited their capability to capture particular tracking strategies that an experienced subject may learn use. In this paper, we consider from a different perspective, namely through investigating probability densities of error for regions target signal amplitude. Results show distinct become apparent compensatory, pursuit preview tasks. Effects these often averaged-out by current can only be captured situation-dependent models. Modeling systematic adaptation not could potentially lead better model fits explain/reduce part

Manual tracking enhances smooth pursuit eye movements.

Previous studies have reported that concurrent manual tracking enhances smooth pursuit eye movements only when tracking a self-driven or a predictable moving target. Here, we used a control-theoretic approach to examine whether concurrent manual tracking enhances smooth pursuit of an unpredictable moving target. In the eye-hand tracking condition, participants used their eyes to track a Gaussia...

Preview Control for Wind Turbines

The success of wind power as a renewable energy source depends on its cost of energy. Wind turbine control has attracted much attention in the controls community due to its potential impact on the cost of wind power. However, novel methods in the literature have not transitioned well to industry. This is because the potential cost benefits of these methods are not well understood. There is a ne...

Perceptual control models of pursuit manual tracking demonstrate individual specificity and parameter consistency

Computational models that simulate individuals' movements in pursuit-tracking tasks have been used to elucidate mechanisms of human motor control. Whilst there is evidence that individuals demonstrate idiosyncratic control-tracking strategies, it remains unclear whether models can be sensitive to these idiosyncrasies. Perceptual control theory (PCT) provides a unique model architecture with an ...

A Model of Manual Control with Perspective Scene Viewing

A model of manual control during perspective scene viewing is presented, which combines the Crossover Model with a simplified model of perspective-scene viewing and visualcue selection. The model is developed for a particular example task: an idealized constantaltitude task in which the operator controls longitudinal position in the presence of both longitudinal and pitch disturbances. An exper...
